Nicolas Schmid is a visual artist based in Zurich, Switzerland.


Through material processes of transformation and encounters with natural and scientific phenomena, he explores how organisms, materials, and environments respond and adapt to change.  His artistic practice investigates resilience as an ongoing process of balance, disruption, adaptation, transformation, and growth.  

His work is rooted in the intersections of art, science, and ecology and includes painting, sculpture, and research-based installations.
